How To Make Ship Model Kits

I recently got hooked on the miniature boat making craft when I found myself in between jobs. Being self-employed has its ups and downs. There are times when I am so busy I don’t know where to start and other times that I have absolutely nothing to fill my time.

My wife suggested that I take up a hobby and I decided to take her advice. I know that she really wanted me to keep busy so I would stay out of her hair during the day. When I entered the hobby shop the first thing that I noticed was a finished ship model kit. It was a World War II vessel and I was taken back by the amazing detail in the piece.

Of course, I admired the boat model but I never thought that I would be able to complete such a task no matter how much extra time I had on my hands. I kept looking at different items in the hobby shop when I came across another ship model kit that caught my eye. This was a magnificent old pirate ship that looked as if it were carved out of wood.

Again I decided to keep looking. The ship model kits looked really appealing to me but they were also really intimidating as well. The last thing I wanted to do was purchase a craft that would make me go out of my mind. I pictured myself obsessing over the intricate detail in the miniature boat designs.

I finally began to give up. Nothing was catching my eye or sparking any creative interest other than the ship model kits. The owner of the store seemed to notice my frustration and he began to make some reasonable suggestions. One of which is so very obvious that I’m almost embarrassed that I didn’t think of it myself.

He suggested that I purchase a beginner’s boat model to start things off. If I was comfortable working with the easier piece I may be ready to move on to more challenging ship model kits. The owner made a quick sale and I now have a great new hobby.
