planing center boarder, the Raven is not only fast off the wind, but surprisingly speedy upwind, especially in a chop. Under these conditions, it performs best in either a ghosting breeze or a wind blowing at 15 knots or better. When reefed in a 25-knot breeze, it will stay right with any boat up to and including a 38-foot U. S. One-Design. Thanks to the fact that it has very little overhang, it can go to windward in a chop so rough that six-meter boats have to run for home. When sailing upwind, the best angle of heel is 15°. If necessary, the boat should be pinched a bit so it will stay comparatively level.
Strictly a one-design, the Raven boasts a growing class organization. There are well over 100 boats now in the class and more are being built every day. Ravens are available with either molded mahogany-plywood hulls or resin-impregnated Fiber -glas hulls. Also available is a kit from which you can build your own Raven.
Despite its proven ability to sail at phenomenal speeds, the Raven is no freak. It's an able, seaworthy, honest sailboat that will take as many as 10 people day-sailing in its roomy cockpit.
Raven is 24 ft. 2 in. long, has a beam of 7 ft., and draws 7 in. with the board up and 5 ft. 4 in. with the board down. All spars are aluminum.

Handling ease makes the Raven ideal for teenagers and her roomy cockpit is a great asset.
Ghosting along in a zephyr. The spinnaker is pulling beautifully as the crew lolls on deck.
